The Contest

Young and Innocent is one of Alfred Hitchcock’s cinematic masterpieces. In 2003, the webzine Effettonotte online (www.effettonotteonline.com) and Centro di Cooperazione Culturale of Turin (www.centrocooperazioneculturale.it) borrowed the title of the great British director’s film to launch the first young film critics online competition. Along seven years the competition has become a great way to promote cinematic culture, by establishing its reputation in Italy as a national, original and participatory event, thanks to hundreds of the young people who tested themselves with critical writing.

As point of reference for the academic and cultural world, Young and Innocent has numbered, all along, several supporters and collaborators among critics, professors, and personalities of Italian and International Cultures (Alberto Barbera, Steve Della Casa, Luciana Castellina, Jean Roy, Alin Tasciyan), as well as institutional partners such as Italian Minister of Culture, Piedmont Region, City of Turin, SNCCI, UCCA, National Museum of Cinema, Film Commission Turin.

Since from the very beginning, three words define the competition: writing, young, web. In 2011 a fourth word was added: Europe. As a matter of fact, Europe is the new horizon for a competition that is growing more and more, by involving all the young people who love cinema and writing in order to enhance languages and cinematography of their own countries. Just one aim: make Young and Innocent the meeting point (virtual and real) of all the young European film lovers!
